Pool Closing

Fall is on it's way and that means winterizing your pool in the Midwest.  We can help you with any questions you have about closing your own pool or our service department can do the work for you.  Here is a general guideline on how to close your above ground pool.

1. Balance your pH and Alkalinity and shock your pool with 2lbs. of chlorine per 10,000 gallons of water
2. Circulate your pool for at least 12 hrs after balancing and then drain the pool below the skimmer.
3. disconnect your hoses that run from the pool to the filter system and take out drain plugs from pump and filter

4. Add winterizing algicide or enzyme like ' Pool Magic' by Natural Chemistry.
5. Install winter cover and secure at the top rail of the pool.
6. Check water level and water balance during the winter, maybe before freezing (November) and after thawing (March) to make sure you haven't lost water through the winter and prevent algae growth.
